Steps to Rename the Recycle Bin
Open the Registry Editor:
- Press
Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
- Click Yes if prompted by User Account Control (UAC).
Navigate to the Key:
Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSIDs\
Find this Recycle Bin CLSID:
{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
Modify the Name:
- Double-click the
(Default) entry.
- Change the Value data from "Recycle Bin" to your preferred name (e.g., "Trash Can").
- Click OK.
Restart Explorer for Changes to Take Effect:
- Open Task Manager (
Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Find Windows Explorer in the list.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
